Info For the Art Lovers
The Garrett County Arts Council is excited to present their newest event SEYMOUR, which will debut Friday Oct 12 and Saturday Oct 13 from 10:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m . daily and is part of the 2018 Autumn Glory Festival.
SEYMOUR is a fine arts show and sale showcasing nearly 30 artists and their creations. Work exhibited will range from painting, photography and pottery to glass, wood carving, and basket weaving.
This new art experience will take place at Simon Pearce, which is a fitting host for the event, as the company produces hand-blown crystal glassware that is both functional and artistic. Visitors will be invited to experience all Seymour has to offer, as well as take time to watch Simon Pearce’s master glassblowers at work. The company’s retail shop will be open as well.
SEYMOUR aims to showcase fine art, but will also have traditional foods such as Mennonite baked goods, honey, maple syrup, apple butter, kettle corn, and refreshments on site. Children’s activities, artist demos, live music, and dance performances will round out the event.
“We are excited about our new event that will celebrate the curiosity and creativity of all ages. With our 40-year history of arts curation, SEYMOUR is giving us the opportunity to provide an innovative and fresh approach to supporting artists' success while offering opportunities for discerning art customers.” – Karen Reckner, Executive Director of the Garrett County Arts Council
“We envision Seymour as a pleasing exhibit to all visitors, a wonderful stage for our truly talented artists, and an especially unique place for those seeking additions to their fine art collections.” – Amy Umbel, SEYMOUR Committee member
